WECF´s Energy and NAMA project in Georgia is competing in an award contest organised by the French Ministry of the Environment '100 projects for the Climate'

We are presenting WECF’s ‪‎Energy‬ and NAMA project in Georgia in an award contest organized by the French Ministry of Environment - Platform 100 projects for the Climate. The winners are determined by public vote and will receive support and promotion until the‪ COP22‬ Climate Talks in Marrakesh in November 2016.

Promote the collaboration of women and men and policy makers for a sustainable energy transition in Georgia, Ukraine and 4 neighboring countries through building local capacity and accessibility of RE and EE, facilitation of gender-just solar energy cooperatives and the implementation of a NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action), CO2 reduction, poverty reduction and women’s empowerment.

Impact and key figures :

• Reduction of CO2 emissions: 4.6t/ household per year. Potential : 2.5 mln ton CO2 total saved till 2030 • improved environment, forests, living conditions, health, reduced poverty, employment (136 jobs for women & men), increased energy security, 30 – 60% energy savings in 25 rural communities in the EEC region. • Project is integrated in the INDC (national climate policy) in Georgia as NAMA
