Goal of the NGO trainings was to give targeted support to the Baltic NGOs and enable them to participate in important environmental policy working groups on international and EU level, and in the Baltic Sea region.

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from Baltic States should be encouraged to take more active part at international fora where hazardous substance policies are negotiated and elaborated (EU working group on REACH or Stockholm Convention meetings, HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP) revisions etc.) and policy making should be influenced through actions demanding stronger hazardous substance reduction measures within the Baltic Sea Strategy and at EU level.

NGO Training in Riga, December 2012

First and basic training was given by WECF in May 2012 in Riga, the second training followed back to back with the ICCM 3 conference held in September 2012 in Nairobi; third training was provided by WECF and Chris Rose, trainer and campaigner, again in Riga in December 2012. Finally in October 2013 in frame of the 5th partner meeting which took place in Munich project partners gave a final feedback and shared their experience made on regional, European and international NGO work.

Training by Birgit Pesin, an ecological hairdresser, Munich October 2013
Gaining more practical experience and knowledge on the possibility to substitute or avoid hazardous substances the project team made excursions to retailer stores, to stores which sell ecological cosmetic and body care products and textiles and met a hair dresser who gave a training on ecological hairstyling products.
