Safe Sanitation and Water supply for 30.000 low-income people in the EECCA region: WECF MFS-programme “Empowerment and Local Action” starts in 10 countries

The WECF MFS-Programme “Empowerment and Local Action” will start in January 2008 in ten countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus in cooperation with 27 local NGOs. The project will contribute to the  Millennium Development Goals and will focus on:

-       Safe Sanitation

-       Safe Water

-       Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development

-       Energy Saving and Renewables

The WECF MFS programme it will also promote capacity building and democracy strengthening in the project countries.

The WECF programme is supported by the Netherlands Ministry of Development Cooperation.

In preparation of the start of this project a partner meeting was organized on the 16th October in Belgrade, during the WECF network conference, where the main issues of financing, implementation and monitoring were discussed and clarified.
