Due to polical situation in Kyrgyzstan the conference has been postponed up untill further notice

The conference jointly organised by Unison and WECF will address the outcome of the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen and will focus on the way forward to achieving a just and equitable outcome in Mexico later this year, and the impacts and importance this will have for Central Asia.
“Why we have to deal with climate change in Central Asia – the impacts, challenges and ways to address it in the context of the UN Framework on Climate Change and the way to Mexico COP 16”The conference will focus on the impacts of climate change globally but especially for Central Asia, and as to the means and tools for combating climate change, specifically related to the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) and adaptation and development planning.
The conference will also address the opportunity and role of green technologies and various financing possibilities for these emerging technologies. What does it mean for Central Asia and how does the EU face this issue? The speakers attending the conference are high profile professionals from around the world with diverse backgrounds and are experts in the field of climate change and related issues, like those mentioned above. They will contribute their knowledge and experiences in the effort to finding new solutions and understanding in how to fight this challenge. Their experience ranges from international organizations to representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic, ministries and foreign organizations of Central Asia and the EU as well as companies and NGOs active in the field of energy, environment, technologies and emissions trading from different parts of the world. The official conference languages will be English and Russian.

The event is organized by Civic Environmental Foundation UNISON and Women in Europe for Common Future (WECF) under the patronage of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic-the State Agency on Environmental Protection and Forestry, with support from the UK Charitable Foundation Christian AID, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and supported in the frame of the International Climate Protection Initiative, based on a decision of the German Parliament, by the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety (BMU).Related News
