Project Developing multi-stakeholder cooperation in the areas of water, waste and energy in Belarus

The energy training “Energy Saving and Renewable Energy Sources” took place in Minsk from 8 till 9 February 2008. 51 representatives of local authorities, business, educational institutes, NGOs, mass media took part in this training.

It was organised using Belarussian and German experience. One international expert Mr. Herbert Danner and one local expert Mr. Vladimir Vojtechovich gave presentations on the issue with examples from German and Belarussian experiences and held different workshops. The whole process of energy management was presented from the planning to the direct involvement of citizens. The participants visited a demonstration zone with solar collectors in the IBB centre.

It was the last training on capacity building. Ecoproject's team developed a training evaluation form which shows how effective the three training were. One of the most important results of all three trainings is the contact between participants.

It concerns new contacts established during the event as well as existing contacts that were refreshed. The contact between participants is the basis on which something will get accomplished after the trainings. Ideas will manifest themselves in concrete projects to improve the quality of life in several communities only because people from different fields are going to commit themselves and are ready and able to collaborate. Capacity building trainings provide an appropriate opportunity to get in touch with each other.

The next step is the development of pilot projects and their realisation in 10 different Belarusian communities.

The agenda for this training conference.
