A first planning meeting of the partners and some experts for the project “Developing multi-stakeholder co-operation in the areas of water, waste and energy efficiency in Belarus” financed by the MATRA Programme of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs took place mid-March in WECF’s Munich offices.

From WECF’s partner “Ecoproject” in Minsk/Belarus Yulia Yablonskaya and Tatiana Dereviago participated. Furthermore, the consultant on gender and development from the Dutch consultancy “Femconsult” Kitty Bentvelsen and WECF staff from the Netherlands and Germany attended the meeting.

The discussion evolved around the work plan of the three year project and the start-up meeting in Minsk due to take place from May 22-28, 2007. The participants also worked on a draft questionnaire that was prepared by Kitty Bentvelsen. The questionnaire is the basis for a short base-line study that will be carried out by local NGOs in their region or selected locations in Belarus. This will provide the information needed to develop further the project’s activities in the areas of water, waste and energy.
