The Women's Major Group representatives at the preparatory session of the Commission for Sustainable Development Session 15, presented the following statements, and gave the following interventions in New York:

Energy is essential to meet most basic needs: cooking, boiling, lighting and heating. It is also a pre-requisite for good health, a reality that has largely been ignored. Women and children are largely the victims of this ignorance and no member of the household is free from the implication of Indoor Air Pollution. In this context the Women’s Major Group identifies the following priorities and actions.
