Great news from Nizhyn, Ukraine!

WECF’s partner receives “Women of the Year 2005” award

Valentyna Shchokina, the leader of “Mama-86-Nizhyn”, received the Nizhyn regional award “Women of the Year 2005” in the nomination category “NGO Activist”. Surprisingly she was nominated for this award by the Nizhyn Rayon State Administration.

Valentina says: “The fact that the authorities have taken notice of NGO’s initiatives is a step towards democracy. The reason that I received this award, is mainly due to the activities of my organisation Mama-86-Nizhyn in the framework of the project “Sustainable Rural Development in Ukraine”. I would like to thank to all members of Mama-86 network from around Ukraine, and also our international partners Women in Europe for a Common Future because without their everyday support I would not have received this award”.
