WECF documentaries shown

in Fortzelza at the World Social Forum and at the Paris Human Rights Film Festival

The series of 3 documentaries on Women and Water which WECF co-produced were shown on the 30 of January in one of the large auditorium during the World Social Forum in Fortaleza, Brazil. The films were co-produced with Rapsode France and NVR Netherlands, and were financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 3 documentaries show how women in Ukraine, Romania and Sri Lanka find local solutions to pollution and mismanagement of water resources. The Ukraine documentary also shows the struggle of local communities against privatisation of their water resources.

The 3 documentaries, which were produced in 2003 for the World Water Forum in Kyoto, have toured the world and have been shown at over 20 festivals. The next screenings will be at the Paris Human Rights Festival from 23 of March till the 4th of April (www.festival-filmdroitsdelhomme.org), on the 8th of April at the EcoFilm Festival of Rubaix France (www.ecofilm.org) and in May at the Ceara Festival in Bresil (www.festivalcineceara.com.br).
