WAVE - Women As the Voice for the Environment

WECF and several of it's members participated and spoke at the WAVE conference in Nairobi. This time women environmentalists don't want to create a ripple, but a wave! The fact that opening-speaker and respect environmentalist Wangari Maathai had
 just received the Nobel Price for Peace, brought additional energy and joy to the conference.

Svetlana Slesarenok, director of MAMA-86 Ukraine and oldest WECF member, gave a presentation on MAMA-86 initiatives to help poor women in Ukraine improve their economic, social, environmental and health situation.  Download her presentation here (pdf.).
