The organization was registered in March 2004. Recognizing the critical role of women in achieving a sustainable development through their unique knowledge on the environment and their transfer to the young generation, WISDOM finds it very important to address the need of empowering women participation in sustainable development.
This can be achieved through promoting their literacy, education and training on the matters of development, health and environment. Such activities would allow women to gain self-confidence, achieve success and exercise their active role in the development and education of the young generation.
The WISDOM goals are to:
- Educate and inform the population of Moldova on sustainable development and environmental state;
- Encourage, coordinate and support the activity of women in sustainable development
- Undertake scientific research in the priority directions of the association.
The association WISDOM carry out activities on these main issues:
- Sustainable agriculture
- Biodiversity
- Assessment of human health and ecosystem risks
- Sustainable use of resources
- Women and their role in the society and sustainable development
