Vrouwenrechten en gender rechtvaardigheid zouden kernelementen moeten zijn van de UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

Vrouwenrechten en gender rechtvaardigheid zouden kernelementen moeten zijn van de UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Dat is het standpunt van de Women and Gender Constituency, die haar best doet om dit waar te maken.
In de afgelopen paar jaren van internationale klimaatonderhandelingen is overeengekomen door regeringen over de hele wereld, die als partijen vertegenwoordigd zijn in het UNFCCC, dat gender gelijkheid en het waarborgen van vrouwenrechten nodig is om effectieve maatregelen te nemen tegen klimaatverandering.
De pogingen van de VN om broeikasgassen te verminderen zullen alleen succesvol zijn door het promoten van rechten en rechtvaardigheid en de volledige deelname van vrouwen. Wij werken om te verzekeren dat vrouwenrechten en gender rechtvaardigheid kernelementen zijn van de UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Als vertegenwoordiging van vrouwen- en milieuorganisaties bij de jaarlijkse conferentie vecht de Women and Gender Constituency om te zorgen dat de stem en rechten van vrouwen meegenomen worden in het proces en in de resultaten van het internationale kader voor een duurzame en rechtvaardige toekomst.

The WECF network was present with 8 oral presentations on the 4th Finland Dry Toilet Conference 2012 in Tampere, Finland. In total, 160 participants from 38 countries shared their experiences related to dry toilets during two full days. The conference was the 4th Dry Toilet Conference organized by the Global Dry Toilet Association of Finland.

Call for Women’s Participation in Rio+20
The United Nations General Assembly has decided to hold a follow-up to the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro (which is commonly known as the 'Earth Summit). Brazil has again agreed to be the host. The follow-up will be the 'UN Conference on Sustainable Development 2012', and it is being called informally 'Rio+20'
