WECF guide on EDCs (Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals)

The WECF information brochure "Stop EDCs in everyday products" informs you how to avoid exposure to hormone disrupting chemicals in your daily life

04.03.2013

Currently, there are known more than 200 different chemicals with hormone mimicking properties, so-called EDCs (Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals). Such chemicals include BPA, parabens and phthalates. They are found in many products of daily life or as contaminants in food and are thus able to enter the human body.

Many EDCs are persistent and can have effects already in low doses. We believe there is no harmless dose. EDCs are connected to a lower sperm quality, female infertility, increased risk of diabetes and cancer, adiposity and neurological conitions, such as ADS.

An informed decision to consciously buy products can reduce the exposure to EDCs. Based on selected group-types of products, this guide can show where EDCs are hiding and how they can be avoided. The production of this brochure was financially supported by the German ministry for environment

This brochure is also available in German and Spanish
