Sascha Gabizon, Executive Director of WECF International, was interviewed by British newspaper The Guardianon the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York.

CSW focused in its sixtieth session on women’s empowerment and its link to sustainable development – the core part of WECF’s work. Gabizon highlighted the importance of this year’s CSW as it is the first one after the adoption of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by the UN General Assembly. Speaking about the challenges of implementing the SDGs, Gabizon said that “a number of countries want to refer to national situations and cultures to continue with practices that directly or indirectly discriminate against women and girls”.
Talking about financial imbalances, Gabizon reaffirmed the claim for a change in taxation and the distribution of fiscal resources.
