UN climate change conference in Paris in December

Countries: Europe
Donors: Private donors
Partners: GCSA,HEAL
Issues: Energy & Climate; Gender & Rights
Duration: 11/2015 - 01/2016

As momentum is gathering for the international climate negotiations in Paris this December, WECF is engaged in the Women Climate Gender Coalition to put pressure on governments ahead of this important milestone.

With a series events over the coming months, WECF will raise awareness about the impacts of climate change and the co-benefits of mitigation measures, and encourage health officials to take action regarding the climate change and health.

WECF will be involved in a number of high-level events and summits, debating with policy-makers and national and international actors involved in climate policy. WECF’s Executive Director Sascha Gabizon and Climate & Energy Director Sabine Bock will be present in Paris to discuss the importance of taking action

WECF’s activities come at a time where some positive signs are pointing towards a decarbonized, cleaner and healthier future. As the Vatican has elevated climate action to a moral imperative, calls for a healthier environment. it becomes clear that the current level of ambition is not adequate to face the challenges climate change is posing. Studies show that the earlier we start cutting emissions, the higher the positive effects on our health will be. Therefore, WECF is pushing for an ambitious, clear and binding international agreement in Paris.

WECF is a member of the GCSA, of HEAL, the Health and Environment Alliance, that will also be present focusing on the health aspects of climate change and of the Women and Gender Climate Constituency.
