The first gender-sensitive NAMA has been developed in Georgia by a coalition of civil society organizations led by WECF. The NAMA addresses energy poverty in rural areas by replacing labor intensive and strongly emissive firewood by solar water heaters, home insulation and energy efficient cook stoves. The objective is to provide affordable and renewable energy to 400 000 rural households, with a focus on gender equality. Women play a major role in designing, implementing and monitoring the NAMA.
