WECF takes position on European Commission’s EDC criteria
WECF released its position of the European Commission proposal to identify Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) criteria

WECF released its position of the European Commission proposal to identify Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) criteria. WECF underlines the need that the criteria are changed to address suspected EDCs, which are a real health threat, and ensure an adequate protection of vulnerable populations, in particular pregnant women and children, from EDCs.
WECF, observer of Biocides Competent Authorities meeting, will share this position with Member States and EU authorities. Some of them, including France, Denmark, Sweden, have expressed deep concerns on the current approach by the European Commission.
Many scientific experts working on EDCs, including the Endocrine Society, as well expressed their views on essential elements to be changed in the current Commission’s proposal.
After more than 2 years of delay, the Commission’s proposal was long awaited, but has so far failed to provide a high level of protection of human health and the environment from EDCs.
