Communicating on Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs)

Developing ideas for companies in improving information and communication within the chain and towards consumers of baby and children’s products, on the topic of SVHCs with a focus on risks for vulnerable groups (i.e. children and pregnant women).

21.01.2015 | WECF Project

Countries: The Netherlands
Donors: Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment
Partners: IVAM UvA BV, with assistance from Gezinsbond, PAN Europe and ChemSec
Duration: 01/2015 - 01/2016

The overall goal of this project is to develop ideas for companies in improving information and communication within the chain and towards consumers of baby and children’s products, on the topic of SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern), with a focus on risks for vulnerable groups (i.e. children and pregnant women).

To achieve this goal, a literature study (i.e. desk research) will be conducted on SVHCs in consumer products, with a focus on the SVHC levels, emission routes and risks for people and the environment. Additionally, workshops will be organized to brainstorm and to discuss possible solutions with market leaders in the baby and children’s product branch and with a wider range of companies. Finally, WECF will present the results at the REACH mini-symposium, organized by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment and partners.
